Essentials For Success Program for 7, 8, 9 Graders
These workshops are designed to motivate, educate and empower youth and equip them with the knowledge and resources to make informed college , career and life decisions.
Core 1: Motivation and Self Esteem
These interactive workshops will consist of role playing activities, games demonstrations and open discussions related to:
Body Image
Peer Pressure
Handling Stress
Eating Disorders
Character and Integrity
Knowing your worth
Having a growth mindset
Personal growth Component
Self Confidence
Goal Setting
Attitude Enhancement
Giving and Receiving Respect
Developing Organization Skills
Practice Positive Thinking and Self Talk
Importance of Community Service
Core 2: Goal Setting
Students participate in goal setting activities that will help set goals and design a roadmap to achieve them.
Long Term Goals – Focusing on goals that can be achieved over a long period of time.
Short Term Goals – Goals that are smaller and can be achieved in the immediate future.
Action Oriented Goals – Are within your own power to be reached and do not depend on external factors or people
Outcome Based – Goals that are not within your power to be reached because they depend on another person or factor.

Core 3: Academic and Career Planning
Assessment results and advisement
High school schedule overview (The importance of taking the right classes in high school to ensure college admission).
College admission planning process
Explore and differentiate between community college vs. 4 year colleges and universities. Private colleges vs. public colleges. In state colleges vs. out of state colleges. Traditional college vs. trade colleges. Attending college while attending high school.
Explore career options such as entrepreneurship and a variety of trade and professional careers.
Core 4: Life and Professional Etiquette
Building interpersonal and communication skills
Social Etiquette ( how to behave in certain situations)
Cultural Etiquette
Business Etiquette( how to speak, stand, shake hands, body language)
Professional Etiquette (how to dress, how to present yourself in a professional environment.)
This program will also incorporate guest speakers, field trips and some topics will be covered by industry experts and professionals.
